I love this little book. Great definitions & examples. I find myself just reading it for the pure pleasure of it.
In an effort to expand my vocabulary I purchased this book and a few of this like. I think it was this book that my only issue was the lack of notations of the words usage as far as Noun verb avd, ect. If it in not this book I am referring my most sincere apologies.
I found this book not only informative but entertaining.I enjoyed testing my recall after every section, although some of the words were a little pedantic for my common standards , the majority were practical additions to my vocabulary.The process of remembering the words were well definded as the author gave many examples how to use the particular words in different environments.
This book has a very easy to read format and a friendly tone to it. I have read many a langauge maven wordivoracious vocab book in my day. None compare to this compendium of brilliantly chosen, exquisitely executed words. If you memorize most of the words within, you will nevery sound picayune in your interviews. More importantly, women will stare fervidly at you, the cynosure of all eyes, after you drop a sesquipidalian speech over some post prandial wine.
Great little addition to the family's collection of reference and word books.You'll easily enrich and enliven your vocabulary while learning a little background and history of the origin of the word.This is not a collection of 'pedantic pundit or parlance'.all of the words can be used in everyday communication. They are good, strong words with clear meanings which can help you to express yourself with elegance.Would you prefer to be wiser or wizened.
